· One of the predecessors of the photographic forefronts
Man Ray (Philadelphia 1890-1976) was a man more worried about interior than to exterior. That´s because in his images there was always something more, dark or luminous, but always agitator. Considered one of the big photographers of History, his aptitude to innovate, to give a new point of view to the genre and to amuse itself with the photography is undeniable. His work penetrates the limits that had been marked in his epoch (beginning of the 20th century) to open perception of a new world, more nearby but at the same time more unreal.
One of Ray’s favorite technologies was the rayographic, a technology, already invented, that consisted on placing objects on the photographic role and exposing them to a light source in movement. The result was the following one:
Another technology he used was the “solarization”, what means, the exposure to solar light of images for revealing them, what generated a shade around the image. In addition he did experiments with granulation (accentuation of the seeding silver using a photosensitive technique), printing in negative, invertion of whites and blacks, surface or distortion.
Of this form, Man Ray’s images turn into the best exponent of the photography considered as art.
